Clare McCullagh BSc MBA ACMA
Clare McCullagh is the Managing Director and owner of Heavenly Online Accountants. She’s a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration.
After studying Microbiology at the University of Sheffield, Clare soon realised her true passion was for business. So, after finishing her BSc, she moved on to a master’s degree in Business Administration, and began her journey towards becoming a qualified accountant.
After graduating, Clare started her career at Pricewaterhouse, London, in 1992. For four years she worked with clients including Britannia Airways, Thomson Travel Group, and Shell UK Ltd. This fast-paced, client-facing environment helped Clare develop her own dynamic and driven approach to accounting and gave her vital experience that she values to this day.
After starting a family, Clare moved to the North East, where she is now based. Here she worked in practice, exposing her to more small and medium sized businesses. She also has worked as an in-house Company Accountant for Rosedene Nurseries and Houghall Agricultural College. This combined work experience gave her invaluable insight into the daily issues that business owners face and was the inspiration Clare needed to start up her own accountancy firm.
In 2011, after months of planning every aspect of the business, from hardware and software choices to legal and Institute requirements, Clare set up Heavenly Online Accountants. Since then, the business has grown exponentially.
Clare on the growth of Heavenly Online Accountants:
“Since the day the website went live I have been inundated with enquiries which has resulted in me bringing on a number of clients from a diverse range of sectors such as IT, Engineering, Design, Training and various consultancy services.
“In terms of the future, the ambition is to continue growing the firm so that I can help other businesses fulfil their potential. It takes time, but it’s worth the satisfaction.”
